How to Style Forms in CSS

Filed under: CSS, Design — kenjun @ 10:43 pm

You can control the appearance of forms (text fields, select boxes, buttons, labels, and so on) by using CSS. You can also greatly enhance the forms’ functionality with interactive styles—all without ever having to break out the HTML tables.

Float CSS Elements

Filed under: CSS, Design — kenjun @ 10:42 pm

What is a float?

When you float an element it becomes a block box. This box can then be shifted to the left or right on the current line. The markup options are “float: left”, “float: right” or “float: none”.

Design elements on websites

Filed under: Design — kenjun @ 12:51 pm

May be a little out of date now but, this survey compares website design elements.

In their words, not mine:

This survey compares 10 web sites through elements of their layout: styles, page construction and elements… The survey seeks similarities and differences between those well known web sites, built by famous, talented designers.

What can be observed is that those web sites agree on implicit, internalized layout and design norms (Consensus rate), and that deviance from these rules (Dissidence rate) is uncommon.
